This course is designed to provide tenth graders with a firm foundation in the content areas covered in the Critical Reading and Writing sections of the New SAT, and at the same time to acquaint them with the procedures and strategies required to deal with this test effectively. Vocabulary building will be stressed as preparation for the sentence completion questions which remain an important component of the Critical Reading section, and a good deal of time will be spent solidifying the grammatical concepts which are at a premium on the Writing segment. Students will take mock tests periodically, under simulated exam conditions, in order to become accustomed to the standardized testing experience. Each student will meet this class two periods per week.
